Today we want talk about Paula Bonet, one of the best contemporary illustrators.
Paula Bonet es una artista valenciana de 36 años que actualmente trabaja profesionalmente en el ámbito de la ilustración, a pesar de haberse iniciado con la pintura al óleo, técnica que decidirá dejar en un segundo plano ante la inmediatez y la frescura que le aporta la ilustración.
Paula Bonet is a 36 Valencian artist, who is currently working as a professional illustrator, despite having started as an oil painter, a technique that she left behind due to the immediacy and the freshness of the illustration.
Desde bien joven que había mostrado preferencia por todo aquello que tuviera que ver con el dibujo y el poder expresarse artísticamente, así que, a los 14 años se apuntó a una academia de dibujo para empezar a flirtear con el que acabaría siendo, su profesión. Una vez finalizados los estudios de secundaria y ante el dilema de tener que escoger qué carrera hacer decidió marcar la casilla de Bellas artes y fue admitida en la Escuela Politécnica de la Universitat de València para cursar la licenciatura de Bellas artes y una vez finalizados estos estudios decidió ir una temporada al extranjero para complementar sus estudios universitarios.
From her early youth, she showed preference to everything that had relation with drawing and being able to express herself artistically, so, when she was 14 she joined a drawing academy to get a first touch with what ended up being her job. Once she finished the high school, she faced the dilemma of not knowing what career path to chose and at the last moment she decided to select the Fine Arts checkbox and she was accepted at “Escuela Politécnica de la Universitat de València” to study Fine arts and once she finished the degree she spend some time abroad to supplement her university studies.
Tiene muy claro qué estudiar fuera le sirvió para abrir la mente, ver nuevos horizontes, ponerse nuevos objetivos y captar nuevas influencias que acabarían de definir su trabajo. A pesar de todo este bagaje en el mundo artístico, el camino no fue fácil y durante cuatro años tuvo que combinar su trabajo de ilustradora con la de profesora en un instituto de Valencia.
She knows for sure that studying abroad helped her to open up her mind, to see new horizons, to set new goals and to capture new influences that would end up defining her work. Despite all her baggage in the artistic world, it wasn’t an easy path and she had to combine her work as an illustrator with teaching at an institute of Valencia during four years.
Actualmente, la presencia de Paula Bonet en el mundo artístico es amplia y cada día recibe nuevas ofertas que la han llevado a tener un gran eco a los medios de comunicación y a exponer en varias ciudades europeas como Oporto, Florencia, París, Valencia y Barcelona.
Nowadays, there’s a wide presence of Paula Bonet in the artistic world and she receives new offers every single day, which have turned her into a renowned artist by the media and to exhibit her work in several european cities such as Oporto, Florence, Paris, Valencia and Barcelona.
Sin ir más lejos, el pasado jueves inauguró una exposición en la librería Malpaso de Barcelona, donde se pudieron ver sus obras originales, sin necesidad verlas impresas o a través de las redes sociales, que es como estamos acostumbrados.
In fact, last Thursday she inaugurated an exhibition at the “Malpaso” bookstore in Barcelona, where her original works could be seen, with no need to see them printed or through social networks, which is how we are used to see them.
Además de la inauguración de la exposición, se contó con la presentación de la obra por parte de Esteve Plantada y Paula Bonet. Pero el gran éxito de convocatoria hizo difícil ver y escuchar dichos artistas. Pero eso no impidió que Paula firmará ejemplares y atendiera al público.
In addition to the opening of the exhibition, the work was presented by Esteve Plantada and Paula Bonet. But due to the huge success of the meeting it was very difficult to to see and listen to these artists. But that didn’t stopped Paula from signing copies and attend the audience.
La exposición se podrá visitar hasta el 11 de febrero en Malpaso Librería (C/ Diputación 331, Barcelona). ¡Así que no perdáis la oportunidad y acercaros a ver sus obras!
